In 1968, the legendary German filmmaker Werner Herzog shot his film ‘Even Dwarves Started Small’ on the island of Lanzarote. More than half a century later, a peculiar scientist will try to recover sounds from the past.

Guillermo de Oliveira

He is a director, producer and screenwriter. He is currently working on his first feature-length fiction film: A morte nos teus ollos. In 2022 he released the western short film Sauerdogs, starring August Diehl (Inglourious Basterds), with a soundtrack by Zeltia Montes (The Good Boss) and shot in 35 mm. The short has accumulated more than 70 selections and 30 awards and is available exclusively on Filmin. In October 2021 he participated in the 2nd Werner Herzog Film Accelerator in Lanzarote. His short film Tegoyo (2022) was one of the five chosen by the German director himself for distribution at festivals and has already been seen at Raindance or Sitges. His feature film debut was the documentary Unearthing Sad Hill. After a year of touring international festivals such as Tokyo or Cairo, it premiered in Spain at the Sitges Festival where it won the award for Best Film in the Noves Visions Section. It was subsequently nominated for the Goya Award, the Forqué Award and won the CEC Medal for Best Documentary Film 2019. After its run in cinemas, it premiered worldwide on Netflix.
