SYNOPSIS Manuel Tur and Andreu Ramallo are ten years old when the Civil War arrives on the island of Mallorca. His first encounter with the cruelty of war occurred when he saw the father of a friend shot in front of the wall of the cemetery. After ten years, Manuel and Ramallo find themselves in a sanatorium for tuberculosis patients, a situation they face differently: Ramallo tries to forget the disease while Manuel takes refuge in religion. The friendship between them is based on Manuel’s fascination with Ramallo’s vitality and his admiration for Manuel’s integrity. But little by little Manuel’s religious beliefs enter into crisis when he realizes that what he feels for Ramallo is more than friendship.
